Sunset Sunday-A peaceful spot

I have been so bad about keeping up with my Sunset Sunday posts lately. Between traveling to California, coming back home, attempting to get back into my routine oh and keeping my three little one’s entertained and busy during summer break. While looking through my photos last night it struck me that my camera time has been nearly cut out. I don’t have many photos from May until now. As in less then a hundred. For me that’s a dry patch. One that I will have to rectify soon.

In the mean time I found a few photos to share with you all today. The sun was about halfway set and even though it was cloudy the sun was able to peek out from behind the clouds for the briefest of moments which provided this beautiful lighting.

Do you love sunsets? Have tons and tons of photos of them or maybe even just a few? I would love for you to join us in Sunset Sundays and share a few of your favorites.

Sunset Sunday-Mammatus Clouds

Every time I see those clouds like look like bubbles I ask my husband what kind of cloud it is. I am sure he is sick of hearing me ask it but I think the name may finally be stuck in my head. I was even able to answer someone when they asked me what type they were. Mammatus. They are seriously awesome to look at.
Last week we had a pretty good storm and a few hours before it hit the sky was filled with Mammatus clouds. And when I say filled I am not exaggerating. It was an awesome sight.

I wish I had a camera capable of taking landscape shots because these next two should be viewed side by side. While the sunset wasn’t that easy to see, it was still beautiful because what you could see was so brilliant and then right next to those brilliant colors was a huge storm cloud. It’s times like these I wish we either had a two story house or lived in the middle of nowhere.

Sunset Sunday-Country Roads

I had to go digging through the archives for this weeks Sunset Sunday photos. They aren’t that old, took them about a month or two ago. I haven’t been able to get any sunset shots recently because most nights around here have been cloudy. If it isn’t cloudy and I do manage to get a shot it’s typically from my cell phone. And while cell phone photos can be awesome the quality isn’t always the greatest, especially when you take a shot while in a moving car. Yeah doesn’t always turn out the clearest.
I love digging through the archives and finding gems such as these that I have totally forgotten about. These were taken one day while driving around exploring the surrounding areas. I am not sure what town this is or even where I was but I’ve always enjoyed driving country roads and exploring with my children.

Sunset Sunday-2012 Super Moon

I have been crazy busy this last week and haven’t much down time to get out and take pictures but I wasn’t about to miss the Super Moon this year. I went out at two separate times. Once while the moon was rising and then at 10:35 which is when reports said it would be at it’s fullest. I’m not sure if it would just be at it’s fullest in one particular area or what but it looked bigger to me as it was rising instead of when it was all the way up. I’m not expert so who knows, maybe it just looked smaller because I was tired.
Anywho, seeing as I don’t have any new photos of recent sunsets I thought I would share the two photos I have of this years super moon.

Around 9:35 as it was rising

At 11:35

Sunset Sunday-The calm before the storm

Since it is now spring time that also means the storms have arrived. Or should I say become more frequent. It’s almost every weekend that they come and while I do love the thunder and lightening it also makes for some gorgeous sunsets.

The first photo shows the building of a thunderstorm. It’s kind of hard to see when you don’t know when you’re looking at but lucky me I am married to a weather nerd lover. So towards the middle and off to the left is where I am talking about. When the cloud first started it looked like a giant mushroom and then it just kept growing and growing. It’s really spectacular to watch.

And this one was just a random shot I took that I liked more then I thought I would.

Sunset Sunday-A perfect weekend

With the weather being so beautiful outside lately my family and I have been practically living outdoors. I mean how can you spend your days inside when it’s a perfect 80 degrees with a slight breeze. Yesterday was another beautiful day, we spent it at a local festival and then came home washed the car which led to the kids getting soaked which led to hours of fun. It was the perfect Saturday. And what better way to end it then watching the sunset together. By together I mean the kids running around playing and me outside watching them and the sunset. Perfect I tell you.

I hope you all had a beautiful weekend.

I did my math wrong last week and thought this weeks Sunset Sunday fell on the 31st so I am doing the linky this week.

Sunset Sunday-Speechless

For once I am speechless on what to write for this weeks Sunset Sunday. The photos I took were just after a storm had passed by. It was truly a breath taking sight. But the photo is not what has me speechless.

Today would have been my Grandfathers 81st birthday. It has been almost two years since he passed and I still have a hard time with it. I know he is in a better place and that he is watching over us but I miss him so much. He was the first real man in my life, the best Grandfather anyone could have asked for and an amazing Great Grandpa. So I am going to leave this post rather short but I want to dedicate this weeks Sunset Sunday to him. Papa, I love you with all my heart and I miss you every day.

Sunset Sunday-A sunset in progression

I HAVE MY CAMERA BACK!!!!

Sorry didn’t mean to yell but I am ecstatic that I have it back and in working order. Now as not to jinx it I will quite talking about it.

This Thursday the kids and I spent about two hours after dinner playing outside. They took turns running, jumping, riding bikes and riding scooters. It was so much fun just sitting there watching them. Now my kids know they are only aloud to go where our sidewalk start to turn/to the street light, and then it’s time to turn around. We have a double lot so it’s not like I only give them five feet of playing area. That would be cruel. Keeping up with status quo my youngest likes to push the limits and drift off farther and farther past like street light. So on my many little man chase-downs that night I noticed how spectacular the sunset was. Blessing in disguise maybe?

The first two photos I took from my backyard, the first one I like because there is just something about seeing the sun shadowed by the clouds and the rays peeking out that just speaks to me. The second one, I don’t remember why I took it but hey it helps in seeing the progression right.

And these next two are my favorites out of the group. I don’t think I have ever seen the sun quite so big and brilliant as I did this night. I’ve looked at these photos over twenty times since I originally took them and I love them more and more every time.

Sunset Sunday-Peeking through trees

I found my little point and shoot camera last week and was able to snap a few shots of the sunset on Friday. To say I have missed my camera would be an understatement. Thank goodness for cell phone cameras and my little point and shoot camera. If I didn’t have those I’d be going through some major withdrawals.

I love looking at sunsets through trees. It’s like looking at things in a different perspective always makes you stop and think. No day is exactly the same, just as no person is exactly the same. And that is truly a beautiful thing. I hope wherever you may be that you take the time to sit and enjoy the sunsets.

Sunset Sunday-Fire at sunset

Three years ago during fire season a fire broke out in Southern California that was near our town. Not too close that we were in danger but it was pretty darn close. I remember taking the kids to the fair along with my Mom and wondering if we should really be outside because the smoke, while not over us was like looking at a giant wall. It was a spectacular sight to see and one I will never forget. The smoke had turned into clouds and it was almost an ominous sight.

These were taken as we were leaving right as the sun began to set.
