Verizon Droid Razr Review-How to manually refresh emails

I feel a little silly admitting I still don’t know all the in’s and out’s of the Droid Razr, but then on the other hand I love that I am still learning/finding new things.

Here is something I discovered today while wondering why my email wouldn’t refresh. Sometimes it’s not always an automatic thing like some of us may be used to. So if you’re staring at your phone wondering “why aren’t you showing me my latest emails, I’ve already seen these one’s from four days ago” here is what you need to do.

Depending on which app you use for your email it will go one of two ways. Here is the first way which is by using the email app where you can group different email accounts into the one app.

1. Don’t yell at your phone (it’s not the phone’s fault, really I promise).
2. Open your email.
3. See that little double arrow in the upper left corner, click it.
4. It’s not in the menu/three lined area so don’t look there.
5. Depending on the last time you refreshed your email it may take a bit, but not too long so don’t keep pressing buttons. Just give it a minute or two and you will be all up to date.

The second way to have your emails is if you have the direct app, say Gmail for example. Again this is a very simple process and it makes me wonder how on earth I didn’t discover it sooner.
1. Open app
2. Click menu/three lines at the bottom of the screen
3. Click refresh

Wasn’t that easy! I tell you the things you learn while in the midst of frustration can be awesome and make you feel rather silly that you’re just now learning something new when you probably should have known it by now. But hey I will look on the bright side and take it as lesson learned and now I know what to do next time my phone doesn’t work it’s magic and auto refresh.

Verizon Droid Razr Review-2 months in

I have hit the two month mark of using my Verizon Droid Razr phone and I have to say that I am still in love with it. It’s like opening a present each morning. A little enthusiastic? Maybe, but seriously I am having so much fun using it. While I still have some things to learn about this phone (it seems I am learning new things every day) I wanted to share a few of the things I have gotten down so far.

  • Tons and tons of apps.
  • Adding an app to the home screen is very simple. Just access the app in the app folder and touch the app but don’t let go, hold your finger down and a menu box with pop up with the option to add to home screen. Told you, easy.
  • Easy notification access with touch and slide down feature.
  • The camera rocks! Like most camera phone’s they take the best photos outside in the natural light. It definitely has the speed if you need to snap a really quick shot.
  • I really like the edit options before and after you capture a photo. You can do your simple crop edits or there are a few presets such as sepia, black and white, etc.
    • Vibrate touch option. I like it because it vibrates with every key touch so you know if you’ve pressed something by accident (if you’re like me then you like knowing you’ve touched just the right amount of buttons per word you’re typing out and you count them as you go).
    • Spell check. At first I didn’t like the possible word matches that show at the top of the type pad. I felt it got in the way but as time has passed it has come in handy.
    • Menu Options. Three lines on bottom left screen are your menu options, there’s a home button, back button (great if your in the middle of something and you accidentally touch a button and want to go back) and the search option. All great features to help you maneuver around the phone.

Did I mention the tons of apps. Really there’s an app for almost anything you could need. And the way apps keep coming out I am sure if you can’t find what you’re looking for now you’ll probably be able to find it in the not to distant future.

And just to show some of the cameras abilities I included a few shots I took. Did you know the Droid Razr can do panoramic shots?? How cool is that!

    Instagram now available for Androids

Have you heard the great news??? Instagram is now available for Android based phones. If you aren’t excited you should be. I may or may not have jumped up and down with glee with I heard the news. Yes I am a dork but I love taking photos and Instagram is my favorite smartphone photo app. So naturally I downloaded it immediately.

Instagram allows you to either choose from your existing photos or to snap one directly while using the app. After you have your photo chosen you can then edit it with the
And don’t worry, there are social options for you to share your photos on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and even Foursquare. There’s also talks that sharing to Flickr is in the works. When you connect your social account’s it’s easy to follow all of your friends. You can comment on peoples photos and like the photo by taping the little heart or by double taping the photo. Changing to the different edit options seems to be running a little slow but I’m sure as time goes on the little quirks will be resolved.

I have heard some mixed reviews from users using this app but I myself have not experienced any problems. I have every option available while on the Droid as I did on my old iPhone. So in short, if you love sharing photos and haven’t tried out Instgram go.get.it!

Review of the Motorola Droid Razr one month in

I have been using the Droid Razr for just about a month now. My initial reaction when opening the box and seeing the phone was all ooh’s and ahhhs and one month later I am still ohhh’ing and ahhh’ing. I love new technology and learning how it works.
    Here are my initials thoughts.

Great graphics: The graphics are amazing! Especially when viewing apps or streaming a movie or TV show. The colors are nice and crisp and clear.  And having the 4.3 inch screen is a definite positive in my opinion. It doesn’t feel like you are attempting to watch a movie on a tiny screen and reading wont hurt your eyes because the screen is so small.

One of the biggest things that I have had a hard time getting used to it how lightweight the phone is. It’s a catch twenty-two. I love it because I am not carrying around a big ole clunky phone but at the same time it’s so lightweight I feel like I am going to drop it at any second. And with me being slightly accident prone it makes me just a tad nervous. Also the top feels a little heavier then the rest of the phone. If you hold the phone flat you will notice that it sticks out a little further. It’s not a big issue you just need to make sure you keep a good grip on the phone, especially if you tend to drop your phone a lot.

One of my favorites features of the Droid Razr is the notifications. No more worrying about missing a call, an email, a tweet, text, maybe someone mentioned you on Facebook. You will get a notification about it on the very top left of your phone. To access your notifications just touch the top of the screen and drag your finger down. You can also set it up to make a tone. But even if you don’t hear your phone the next time you pick it up it will be right there on the top. It doesn’t go away until you clear it. When I first got the phone the default tone was the Droid voice and I couldn’t figure out why it kept saying Droid. It was comical watching my son every time I would get a notification and he heard the phone “talk”. His eyes got big and he would always tells me “Mom your phone is freaking me out”. Once I figured out oh hey that’s my notifications I changed it but I am slightly tempted to change it back to the Droid voice just for the giggle factor.

I can’t wait to learn and share more about this phone. Right now I am on the hunt for some amazing apps. If you have a Droid what is your must have app?

Guess what? I am a Verizon Ambassador!

Over the next three months I will be posting about the Verizon Droid Razr! I was selected to be an Ambassador with Verizon. What does that mean? It means I get to take a test drive for three months and explore the new device, learn all about it, and of course play with it and give my thoughts and opinions on it. I am very excited to start this little adventure and I have already started playing around with the Droid Razr.
First impression was “ohhhhh hunny isn’t it pretty”. I was a bit excited. The phone is very light weight and upon initially picking it up I was worried I would drop it because of that (and I am a bit of a klutz) but it wasn’t long before I got used to it and now I prefer how light weight it is. I also like the big screen with options to use wide screen mode for taking photos or normal screen.
One thing I did noticed upon turning it on was it took well over 30 seconds to it completely startup. Now since this was only my second time turning it on it could just be a fluke. The more I use it and learn about it I will share here.
But real quick I wanted to ask my readers a question. If you use an Android based phone what are you go to apps? Favorite apps? So far I have the basics such as facebook and twitter. Can anyone suggest a good photo app? I’d love to hear what your favorites are.
